RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky lost game two of the series that began on Friday and concluded on Saturday, and then dropped the final game of the series against Southeast Missouri to close out the regular season.
SEMO won by scores of 7-6 and 10-9.

Eastern Kentucky will be the No. 6 seed in the eight-team OVC Tournament that starts on Tuesday at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama. The Colonels will begin play in the double elimination tournament on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. ET against No. 3 seed Morehead State.

Game two of Eastern's series with Southeast Missouri was suspended on Friday at 8:50 p.m. The two teams resumed that game starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Two, two-run singles by Danny Wright and Tristen Gagan in the top of the third inning gave SEMO a 4-0 lead. However, in the bottom half of the inning,
Nick Howie hit a grand slam to tie the game.

The Redhawks went up 5-4 in the sixth, but Eastern tied it again in the bottom of the eight when
Alex Holderbach singled to center to score Howie.

Two, bases loaded, walks in the top of the ninth gave Southeast the two runs it needed to secure the win.

Wright finished 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs for SEMO. Howie went 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs for the Colonels.

Gagan got the final game of the series started with a two-run double in the top of the first. The Redhawks built a 4-1 lead on solo home runs by Alex Canty in the second and Justin Dirden in the fourth.

The Colonels closed the gap to two, 5-3, on RBI singles from Howie and
Tyler Romanik in the bottom of the third. Southeast had the answer with two runs in the top of the fourth to take a 7-3 lead.

Eastern Kentucky (27-29, 15-15 OVC) erased the four-run deficit with five runs in the bottom of the fourth.Â
Cornell Nixon drove in two with a single through the left side. Two batters later, Holderbach's infield single made it a 7-6 game.Â
Tyler Romanik's ground ball to first allowed Nixon to score the tying run. The go-ahead run came home on a throwing error by the shortstop.

Southeast Missouri (26-28, 20-10 OVC) scored one in the fifth and two in the sixth to take the lead for good. Connor Basler's triple in the sixth broke an 8-8 tie.

Howie went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in the final game of the series. Holderbach was 2-for-2 with a walk, a run and two RBIs.

Gagan and Canty both finished with two hits and each drove in three runs for SEMO.
