Colonels Fall At No. 6 Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. –
The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team fell to No. 6 Penn State University in three sets Friday night at the Penn State Rec Center.
 
The Colonels (0-1) fell by scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-15.
 
Lindsey Wilkins led the way for EKU with eight kills while Rachel Woody chipped in 14 assists. Chloe Rojas and Sydney Schoen each finished in double-digits in digs with 13 and 11, respectively.
 
Cassie Knutson and Kaylin Johnson tallied two blocks apiece.
 
Mikayla Logan collected her first kill as a Colonel.
 
In the first set, Penn State jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and kept pace throughout the entire set.
 
EKU drew within two, 10-8, after a kill from Knutson in the second set before the Nittany Lions (1-0) went on a 6-2 run to tilt the score, 16-10. Penn State went on an 8-1 run to close out the set.
 
The Colonels return to action tomorrow, taking on the United States Naval Academy at 1:00 p.m. followed by the University of Maryland, Baltimore County at 4:00 p.m.
