LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team is set to head to Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend for the Rebel Challenge hosted by UNLV.
 
The Colonels will take on California State University at Fullerton and Fordham University on Friday at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. eastern time, respectively. The squad will square off against the home team on Saturday, September 8 at 5 p.m.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
-The Colonels (0-6) dropped matches to New Mexico, New Mexico State and Florida Gulf Coast last weekend at the Lobo Classic.
-Freshman Mikayla Logan was named to the Lobo Classic All-Tournament Team after collecting 29 kills and four blocks.
-Cassie Knutson is leading the offensive effort on the year with 53 kills, while Lindsey Wilkins follows closely behind with 46.
-Kaylin Johnson is leading the squad at the net with 20 blocks on the season.
-Chloe Rojas was the third Colonel to take Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year following the 2017 campaign.
-Rojas and Cassie Knutson were each named to the preseason all-conference team.
-Head Coach Lori Duncan is entering her 21^st and final season.
-The Colonels return eight, welcome in two transfers and bring in five freshmen.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
CAL STATE - FULLERTON
-The Titans are currently 6-1 on the year and are currently riding their longest winning streak since 2013 – six matches, in which they have not dropped a set.
-Last weekend, the squad went 3-0 in the St. Francis Brooklyn Classic.
-Senior Madeline Schneider leads the team offensively with 97 kills on the season while Savahna Costello anchors the defense with 77 digs.
-EKU and the Titans are even all-time at 1-1.
 
FORDHAM
-The Rams are 2-4 on the season after going 1-2 last weekend at the Rose Hill Classic.
-Junior Kaitlin Morley leads the team with 82 kills and 3.28 kills-per-set.
-Junior Morgan Williams leads the defensive with 106 digs and 4.42 digs-per-set.
-Fordham was slated to finish seventh in the Atlantic-10 preseason polls.
-Head coach Ian Choi is in his first season with the team.
-The Colonels have never squared off against Fordham.
 
UNLV
-The Runnin Rebels are 3-3 on the season after going 2-1 in the UNLV Invitational two weekends ago and 1-2 in the Duquesne Invitational last weekend.
-Sophomore Mariena Hayden leads the team both offensively and defensively with 106 kills and 104 digs. She also recorded a program-record 10 aces in a single match and racked up 26 kills against Youngstown State o August 31.
-Head Coach Dawn Sullivan is in her first year with the program.
-The Colonels are 0-2 all-time against UNLV.
