However, TSU (4-11, 1-2 OVC) responded with a 13-2 run and trimmed the EKU lead to one, 50-49, on a jumper by Dave Morris at the 16:03 mark.

Eastern held a narrow lead for much of the second half, but Tennessee State continued to hang around. The Tigers finally tied, 64-64, on a three-point play by Davis with 10:12 remaining. They grabbed their first lead since early in the game when Daniel Cummings drained a triple to make it 71-70 with 7:20 to play.
