Basketball Teams Continue Nashville Road Trip at Belmont on Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The EKU basketball teams continue their OVC Nashville road trip at Belmont on Saturday

The women's game tips at the Curb Event Center at 4:00 p.m. ET.  The men's contest is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Both games will air live on ESPN+.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Belmont leads the all-time series 18-4.
 
-  Belmont won both meetings last year.
 
-  Belmont has won 11 straight meetings between the two teams.
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky lost at Tennessee State, 60-38, Thursday.   
 
-  Mashayla Cecil matched a career-high nine points against the Tigers.
 
-  Hailey McCoy posted two points with a career-high nine rebounds and five assists.
 
-  Shay Solomon leads the way offensively for the Colonels with a team best 11.9 points per game.
 
-  EKU is pulling down 37 rebounds per game.
 
-  The Colonels rank sixth in the conference in three-point field goal defense.


SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Belmont beat Morehead State, 77-50, on Thursday.   
 
-  The Bruins were led by Darcy Maggard who had a team-best 21 points, five assists and four rebounds.
 
-  BU had four players post double-digit points in the win against Morehead State.
 
-  Belmont ranks first in the conference in fewest turnovers.   
 
-  The Bruins rank 20th in the country in three-point field goals made.
                          
-  BU ranks third in the conference in assists. 
 
UP NEXT
Eastern Kentucky comes home for the first time since starting conference play when they welcome UT Martin to McBrayer Arena Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.

WHAT TO KNOW
- Freshman Jomaru Brown dropped 24 points vs. Tennessee State on Jan. 10 - two shy of his career high. 

- Brown ranks fourth in the OVC, and leads all conference freshman, in scoring during OVC play (20.3 points-per-game). 

- Senior Nick Mayo scored 22 points at TSU on Jan. 10. Mayo is currently tied with Murray State's Ja Morant for the OVC scoring lead (23.5 points-per-game). 

- Mayo is now 42 points shy of 2,000 for his career. 

- Mayo is one rebound shy of 700 for his career. He is 17 rebounds shy of taking over 10th place on EKU's all-time rebounds list (716). 

- Saturday's game pits the top two scoring offenses in the OVC against each other - EKU (1st / 84.8 points-per-game) vs. Belmont (2nd / 84.7 points-per-game). 

- EKU (7-9, 0-3 OVC) ranks third in the country in steals/game (10.9), fourth in turnovers forced/game (20.0) and 13th in turnover margin (+4.1). The Colonels lead the OVC in all three categories. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT 
- Belmont (11-3, 2-1 OVC) dropped its OVC opener to Jacksonville State but has bounced back with wins over Tennessee Tech and Morehead State. 

- Dylan Windler paces the Bruins at 18.4 points-per-game. 

- This will be the 17th all-time meeting between EKU and Belmont. The Bruins lead the series, 11-5, and have won five straight games over the Colonels.
