Basketball Teams Continue Their Road Trip At Tennessee State Thursday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – EKUs basketball teams continue their Ohio Valley Conference opening road stretch at Tennessee State on Thursday.

The women's game will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET.  The men's contest will tip-off at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Both games will air live on ESPN+.

The Colonels will look to rebound from a loss at Murray State when they face Tennessee State on Thursday.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series 41-22.

THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky (2-11, 0-2 OVC) lost at Murray State, 81-63, on Saturday.  
 
-  Shay Solomon posted her first double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
 
-  Bria Bass had a season-high 22 points in the contest. 
 
-  EKU has three players averaging double-digit points this season.
 
-  Eastern Kentucky is pulling down 37 rebounds per game.
 
-  The Colonels are forcing six steals a game. 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

-  Tennessee State (0-14, 0-2 OVC) lost to Jacksonville State, 62-52, on Saturday.  
 
-  The Tigers are led offensively by Taylor Roberts, who is averaging a team-high 14.4 points per game.
 
-  Tia Wooten posted a team-high 13 points and 10 rebounds in the game against Jacksonville State.
 
-  TSU is forcing 18 turnovers a game. 
 
-  Tennessee State ranks first in the conference in free throws made. 
                          
-  TSU ranks third in the conference in rebounds.

WHAT TO KNOW
- Senior Nick Mayo poured in 36 points and grabbed nine rebounds in EKU's loss at Murray State on Jan. 5. The 36 points matched his career-high against an OVC opponent. He also scored 36 vs. UT Martin on Feb. 8, 2018. 

- Mayo is averaging 23.3 points-per-game vs. TSU over his last three meetings with the Tigers. 

- After going 11-of-13 from the stripe at Murray State, Mayo now leads the OVC in free throw percentage (88.7%). He also leads the OVC and ranks 14th in the country in free throw attempts (115). 

- Mayo currently ranks 10th in the country in scoring at 23.6 points-per-game. There have only been nine seasons in which a Colonel has averaged more then 20 points-per-game, and only one since 1986-87 (Mike Rose / 2008-09 / 20.0 points-per-game). 

- EKU (7-8, 0-2 OVC) ranks third in the country in steals/game (11.3), fourth in turnovers forced/game (20.1) and 15th in turnover margin (+4.7). The Colonels lead the OVC in all three categories. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Tennessee State (3-11, 0-2 OVC) has lost six straight games. The Tigers fell to Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State at home last weekend. 

- Donte Fitzpatick-Dorsey paces TSU at 15.3 points-per-game. 

- This will be the 64th meeting between EKU and Tennessee State. EKU leads the series, 34-29. The Colonels beat the Tigers, 72-59, in their last trip to the Gentry Center on Feb. 17, 2018. Mayo had 25 points in that win.
