EKU Volleyball Hits The Road To Take On In-State Rival Morehead State Wednesday

MOREHEAD, Ky. –
The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team hits the road to take on in-state rival Morehead State University on Wednesday.
 
First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
 
-Eastern comes into the week at 6-12 (1-3 OVC), after falling on the road to Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State last week.  
-Freshman Abby Noll continues her stellar campaign bringing her team-best 210 kills and 186 digs into the contest. Her 3.62 kills per set ranks fourth in the conference.  
-Dena Tekavec brings her team-high 254 digs (4.23 digs per set) into the weekend. Her 4.23 digs per set ranks seventh in the OVC.
-Senior Kaylin Johnson comes into the weekend second on the team in kills with 133. She is hitting .259 on the season. Johnson has a team-best 51 blocks (0.86 per set) on the season. Her 0.86 blocks per set ranks eighth in the conference.   
-Eastern ranks first in the conference in digs per set. The Colonels 17.10 digs per set ranks 17th in the NCAA.
-EKU ranks 29th in the country in opponent hitting percentage.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
 
MOREHEAD STATE
-The Eagles come into the week at 12-4 (3-1 OVC), after splitting a pair of contests against Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State last weekend.
-MSU leads the all-time series between the two teams, 62-51.  
-Morehead State is led by defending OVC Player of the Year Olivia Lohmeler. Lohmleter has 291 kills on the year (4.85 kills per set). Her 4.85 kills per set ranks second in the conference and eighth in the NCAA. She was named Co-OVC Offensive Player of the Week last week.  
-Bridget Bessler brings her team-best 519 assists into the contest. Her 10.81 assists per set ranks second in the conference and 25th in the NCAA.  
-Morehead State ranks 21st in the country in kills per set.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
-EKU returns home on Saturday when the Colonels welcome in Murray State to McBrayer Arena. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
