EKU Volleyball Welcomes In-State Rival Morehead State To Richmond On Wednesday

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team welcomes in-state rival Morehead State to McBrayer Arena on Wednesday night.
 
FREE black EKU volleyball shirts will be given out while supplies last. It will be Greek Night and we will be raffling off a mountain bike, Soft Shoe gift card, eight rounds of golf and more.
 
Live statistics will be provided for the match. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
 
-Eastern comes into the week at 9-19 (4-10 OVC), after falling to Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech last week.
-Freshman Abby Noll leads the way offensively for the Colonels with a team-best 357 kills (3.92 kills per set) and 282 digs on the year. Noll's 3.92 kills per set ranks third in the conference on the year. Noll was named OVC Co-Newcomer of the Week, the fourth time she has won the honor this year.
-Dena Tekavec brings her team-high 426 digs (4.57 digs per set) into the weekend. Her 4.57 digs per set ranks fifth in the OVC.
-Senior Rachel Woody leads the team with 661 assists on the year. Her 8.58 assists per set ranks seventh in the conference.
-Eastern ranks first in the conference in digs per set. The Colonels' 17.17 digs per set ranks 23rd in the NCAA.
-EKU ranks fourth in the conference in opponent hitting percentage.   
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
 
MOREHEAD STATE
-The Eagles come into the weekend at 20-7 (11-3 OVC) and tied for the first in the conference after splitting a pair of contests against Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State.
-Morehead State swept the Colonels in Morehead earlier this year.
-Olivia Lohmeier brings her team-best 476 kills into the contest. Her 4.81 kills per set ranks second in the OVC. Lohmeier was named OVC Offensive Player of the Week a week ago.  
-Bridget Bessler comes into the weekend with a team-best 936 assists on the year. Her 11.28 assists per set ranked first in the conferece.
-Allison Whitton leads the back-line for the Eagles posting a team-best 422 digs on the year. Her 4.26 digs per set ranks eighth in the conference.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
-EKU wraps up its season on the road when the Colonels travel to Clarksville this weekend to take on Austin Peay. First serve against the Governors is scheduled for 3 p.m.
