RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team fell in straight sets on Saturday against Tennessee Tech.

The Colonels lost 26-28, 18-25 and 22-25.

Abby Noll paced the Colonel offense with a match-high 19 kills and nine digs. Senior
Katelynn Caserma-Kloeble posted 10 kills. Fellow senior
Rachel Woody posted a double-double with 39 assists and 13 digs. Â

In set one, the two teams traded points to start the set until TTU took a 12-9 lead after the Colonel attack error. Eastern responded though to tie the set at 16-16 after the kill by Noll. The two teams continued to trade points throughout the set and again the two teams were tied 26-26 after the Rachel Thomas kill. TTU took the set 28-26 after the kill by Thomas.

Tennessee Tech jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in set number two and never looked back. Eastern did not go down without a fight though. The Colonels cut the Golden Eagles lead to 13-10 after the kill by Noll. TTU responded though and took the second set 25-18.

In set three, again the two teams traded points to start the set. The largest lead in the set was three points. TTU took a 14-11 lead halfway through the set after the kill by Ashley Hand. Eastern responded though and cut the Golden Eagles lead to one, 22-21, after the kill by Caserma-Kloeble. Tech responded with three of the last four points to win the set 25-22 and complete the sweep.

Ali Verzani led the way offensively for the Golden Eagles with 15 kills and 13 digs.

Eastern returns home on Wednesday when the Colonels take on in-state rival Morehead State. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
