RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University beach volleyball team hits the road to start its inaugural season with four matches at the Gamecock Grand Slam.    
 
The team will take on Georgia State Saturday at 11 a.m., followed by Stetson University at 3 p.m. On Sunday, EKU will take on University of Alabama Birmingham at 11 a.m. and wrap up with host South Carolina at 5 p.m.
 
Five matches will determine the team winner. There are five seeds but a sixth seed will be considered an alternate and will still compete. Each pairing will play a best two-out-of-three sets to determine who earns the point.  The team who wins three or more points wins the whole match. In each pairing, the first two sets will be played to 21 points, followed by 15 in the third set.

Eastern returns to the sand on March 26 for a duel match against in-state rival Morehead State. The first match will start at 3:30 p.m.
