CHARLESTON, S.C. – Eastern Kentucky University's beach volleyball team lost to a pair of ranked teams on the first day of the Gamecock Grand Slam.
 
The Colonels (0-2) lost to 18th ranked Georgia State 5-0 and 12th ranked Stetson University 5-0.
 
In match number one, the No. 5 and No. 4 pairings started the contest.
 
No.5 Clairissa Hankinson and Annie Cvelbar fell in straight sets 21-8 and 21-16.
 
Georgia State (10-5) swept the Colonels in first match without dropping as set.
 
In match two against Stetson, the Hatters wasted no time winning the first couple sets in the four and five pairings and did not look back.
 
Rachel Woody and Kennedy Wilson lost the opening set 21-18 in their matchup.
 
Stetson (7-3) won in straight sets to win the match 5-0.
