CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University's beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of its first season at Austin Peay.
 
The Colonels (2-13) fell in the opening match to host Austin Peay, 4-1, before defeating Carson-Newman, 4-1, in match two.  
 
In match number two, Eastern jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and did not look back.
 
Clarissa Hankinson and Mikayla Logan made quick work in their pairing winning by scores of 21-7 and 21-9 to put Eastern on the board first.
 
Rachel Woody and Kennedy Wilson took their opening set, 21-18, over Montgomery Sauter and Lexy Headley. Sauter and Headley bounced back to take set number, 21-14, to force a third set. Woody and Wilson took the last set, 15-13, to give the Colonels a 2-0 lead.
 
Carson-Newman (2-21) took the number one pairing in straight sets, 21-10 and 21-14, to make the score 2-1 after three pairings.
 
EKU took the next two pairings to win the match 4-1 over Carson-Newman.
 
In match number one, the number four pairing of Woody and Wilson fell behind early after losing the opening set 25-23. The two stormed back in the second set defeating Lucy Randall and Cori Theiss 21-19. Woody and Wilson took the final sent 15-9 to put the Colonels on the board.
 
Austin Peay (15-12) won the next three matches to win the match 4-1.
