MASON, Ohio – A.J. Lewis and
Logan Thomason both hit home runs, but Eastern Kentucky lost to Western Carolina, 9-6, on Tuesday at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.

WCU jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings, including scoring three of its four runs in the second inning on an error, a passed ball and a wild pitch.Â

The Colonels got on the board in the top of the fourth when Thomason launched a two-run home run over the wall in left field. However, the Catamounts came right back in the bottom of the inning and went in front 8-2 on a two-run home run by Daylan Nanny.

With one out in the top of the fifth, Lewis got a three-run inning started for Eastern with a two-run home run over the wall in left. Later in the inning,
Michael Brewer singled up the middle to plate one run and draw EKU within three, 8-5.Â

With a runner on second in the sixth, Lewis doubled to right to make it an 8-6 game, but that is as close as the Colonels would get.

Nick Howie had a 3-for-5 game with a run. Lewis finished 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs. Thomason was 2-for-4 with a run and two driven in.

Matthew Koehler went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs for Western Carolina. Nanny finished 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs.

The Colonels will conclude the regular season with a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series at home against Belmont. The series-opener is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m.
