Baseball Drops Midweek Game To Western Carolina

Box Score

MASON, Ohio –
A.J. Lewis and Logan Thomason both hit home runs, but Eastern Kentucky lost to Western Carolina, 9-6, on Tuesday at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.

WCU jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings, including scoring three of its four runs in the second inning on an error, a passed ball and a wild pitch.

The Colonels got on the board in the top of the fourth when Thomason launched a two-run home run over the wall in left field.  However, the Catamounts came right back in the bottom of the inning and went in front 8-2 on a two-run home run by Daylan Nanny.

With one out in the top of the fifth, Lewis got a three-run inning started for Eastern with a two-run home run over the wall in left.  Later in the inning, Michael Brewer singled up the middle to plate one run and draw EKU within three, 8-5.

With a runner on second in the sixth, Lewis doubled to right to make it an 8-6 game, but that is as close as the Colonels would get.

Nick Howie had a 3-for-5 game with a run.  Lewis finished 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs.  Thomason was 2-for-4 with a run and two driven in.

Matthew Koehler went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs for Western Carolina.  Nanny finished 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs.
