EKU Volleyball Welcomes In Marshall University For its Home Opener On Tuesday

RICHMOND, KY. –
The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team welcomes in Marshall University for its home opener on Tuesday.
 
First serve is at 6 p.m. Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series between the two teams 21-7, the last time the two teams met was in 2015.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
 
-Eastern went 2-1 last weekend, sweeping Seton Hall and Saint Francis and falling to host Akron.  
-Freshman Abby Noll paces the Colonel offense with 107 kills on the year. She ranks second on the team with 103 digs.  
-Dena Tekavec ranks eighth in the conference in digs per set on the season.
-Senior Rachel Woody comes in at fifth in the OVC in assists per set on the year.
-Eastern has been getting it done on the defensive side ranking first in the conference in opponent hitting percentage at .133
-The Colonels rank first in the OVC with 17.44 digs per set as a team.  
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
 
MARSHALL
-Marshall comes into the match at 6-3 after going 2-1 this past weekend at the Billiken Invitational. The Thundering Herd swept UT-Martin and host Saint Louis, before falling to Troy.
-The Thundering Herd are led by redshirt junior Ciara Debell, who has a team-best 137 kills on the year. She ranks third in the conference in kills per set.  
-Amber Weber comes into the match with a team-best 120 digs on the year. She ranks eighth in Conference USA in digs per set.  
-Isa Dostal leads the way at the net for Marshall. She ranks first in the conference with 1.34 blocks per set.
-Marshall ranks third in the conference in hitting percentage at .254.  
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
-EKU hits the road to Morgantown, West Virginia for its last non-conference contests. The Colonels take on Navy on Friday, before taking on host West Virginia and Duquesne on Saturday. First serve against the Naval Academy is at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
