Colonels Close Out Music City Road Trip at Tennessee State on Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's basketball teams will close out their Music City road trip with a doubleheader at Tennessee State on Saturday.

The women's game tips from the Gentry Center at 3 p.m. ET, followed by the men's game at 5 p.m. ET.

Both games will stream live on ESPN+.

-  Deaja Richardson chipped in six points and four steals off the bench.
 
-  Taylor Roberts ranks sixth in OVC play in scoring.
 
-  TSU ranks 50th in the country in steals per game.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
Sophomore Jomaru Brown led all players with 25 points in EKU's loss at Belmont on Thursday night. The sophomore connected on a career-high five three-pointers in the game.
 
Brown now ranks fourth in the OVC in scoring at 17.5 points-per-game.
 
EKU (6-12, 3-2 OVC) won the turnover battle for the 13th time this season at Belmont on Thursday. The Colonels rank 5th in the NCAA in turnovers forced-per-game (19.3), 11th in steals-per-game (9.6) and 21st in turnover margin (+4.2).
 
Brown was named OVC Player of the Week by College Sports Madness on Monday. He averaged 22 points and 3.5 steals-per-game to lead the Colonels to a sweep of Eastern Illinois and SIUE last week.
 
Since conference play started, junior Russhard Cruickshank has 13 assists and only two turnovers.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Tennessee State (12-6, 4-1 OVC) cruised past Morehead State, 68-48, on Thursday at the Gentry Center.
 
Carlos Marshall paces the TSU offense at 12.1 points-per-game.
 
This is the 66th all-time meeting between EKU and Tennessee State. The Colonels lead the series, 35-30. The teams split last year's matchups. TSU won in Nashville, 82-81, on Jan. 10. EKU won in Richmond, 75-65, on Feb. 9.
