Colonels Host UT Martin in Thursday Night Doubleheader at McBrayer

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's basketball teams will host UT Martin in an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader on Thursday night at McBrayer Arena.

The women tip at 5:00 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.

Both games will stream live on ESPN+.

It is Registered Student Organization (RSO) Night at McBrayer! The RSO with the highest attendance will receive a prize courtesy of EKU athletics!

The games mark EKU's annual Pink Out event.  FREE pink t-shirts will be passed out prior to both games.  The Madison County Breast Cancer Outreach will be honored at halftime of the women's game.

A ceremony honoring former EKU ball boy Jared Chitwood will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym. Free pizza will be provided at the event.

- EKU leads the all-time series between the two teams, 31-24.

THE COLONELS
-  Eastern is 8-11 (2-6 OVC) after falling to Tennessee Tech, 87-82, Saturday in Cookeville.
 
Teri Goodlett posted her first double-double of her career with a game-high 20 points and 12 assists against the Golden Eagles.  
 
Bria Bass had 19 points and six rebounds off the bench against Tennessee Tech.      
 
I'Liyah Green posted a career-high 16 points and six rebounds in the double OT loss to TTU.  
 
Qay Stanton ranks ninth in OVC play in assists per game.
 
-  The Colonels rank third in OVC play in field goal percentage defense.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  UT Martin comes into the contest at 11-8 (7-1 OVC), after knocking off SIUE, 79-39, Saturday in Edwardsville.
 
-  Chelsea Perry led the way for the Skyhawks posting a game-best 24 points, five rebounds and five steals against the Cougars.
 
-  Dasia Young had 15 points and five rebounds against SIUE.
 
-  Perry ranks first in OVC play in scoring averaging 27.3 points per game for UTM.
 
-  UTM ranks first in conference play in scoring averaging 79.0 points per game.

Eastern Kentucky welcomes in Southeast Missouri State on Saturday. Tip-off against the Redhawks is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
At 6-2, EKU is now off to its best OVC start since the 2012-13 season.
 
The Colonels' current three-game OVC road win is their longest since the 2010-11 season.
 
Jomaru Brown connected on a career-high six three-pointers and finished with 31 points in the win over Tennessee Tech on Saturday. Brown has now scored 20 or more points in six consecutive games.
 
Brown is shooting 48.6 percent (18-of-37) from three-point range during OVC play.
 
JacQuess Hobbs just missed his career high with nine assists in the win over TTU on Saturday. He coupled that with zero turnovers.
 
Since conference play started, Hobbs and Russhard Cruickshank have combined for 46 assists and only nine turnovers.
 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
UT Martin (6-13, 2-6 OVC) fell at Easttern Illinois last Thursday before rebounding with a win at SIUE on Saturday.
 
Parker Stewart paces the Skyhawks at 19.8 points-per-game.
 
This is the 50th all-time meeting between EKU and UT Martin. The Colonels lead the series, 29-20, and defeated the Skyhawks in their last meeting, 97-73, on January 17, 2019 in Richmond.
