EKU Basketball Travels To Take On In-State Rival Murray State

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's and men's basketball teams travel to Murray State to square off against the Racers in a Thursday night doubleheader.
 
The women tip from the CFSB Center at 6 p.m. ET, followed by the men at 8 p.m. ET.
 
Both games will stream live on ESPN+.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- Eastern leads the all-times series between the two teams, 58-33.
 
- The Racers have won four straight in the series.  
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern is 10-17 (4-12 OVC) after falling to Belmont, 85-46, Saturday in Richmond.
 
-  Teri Goodlett led the way for the Colonels posting a team-high 12 points, five rebounds and one steal against the Bruins.
 
-  Bria Bass chipped in 10 points and four rebounds.
 
-  The Colonels rank fourth in the OVC in field goal percentage defense.
 
- Goodlett ranks 11th in conference play in scoring averaging 12.8 points per game.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Murray State comes into the contest at 13-14 (6-10 OVC), after knocking off SIUE, 70-61, Saturday in Edwardsville.
 
-  Laci Hawthorne posted a game-high 20 points and 17 rebounds against the Cougars.
 
-  Four Racers scored double-digit points against SIUE.
 
-  Macey Turley ranks seventh in conference play in scoring, averaging 14.8 points per game.
 
-  Murray State ranks fourth in the conference in three-point field goal percentage.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
EKU (14-15, 11-5 OVC) locked up a top-4 seed and first-round bye in the OVC Tournament with its 83-62 win over Tennessee State last Thursday night.
 
It is only the seventh time in program history the Colonels won 11 or more OVC games.
 
As of February 24, EKU was one of only 66 teams in the country with 11 or more conference wins.
 
Freshman Michael Moreno recorded his team-best fourth double-double of the season on Saturday versus Belmont (10 points, 10 rebounds). He also dished out a team-best four assists against the Bruins.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Murray State (20-8, 13-3 OVC) split last weekend on the road, losing to Eastern Illinois on Thursday before bouncing back to edge SIUE on Saturday.
 
The Racers enter the week in a three-way tie with Belmont and Austin Peay for first place in the OVC.
 
Tevin Brown paces Murray State offensively at 17.7 points-per-game.
 
This is the 169th all-time meeting between EKU and Murray State. The Racers lead the series, 106-62, and have won six straight over the Colonels.
 
EKU's last win over Murray State was in the 2014 OVC Semifinals in Nashville (86-83).
