EKU Basketball Takes On SIU Edwardsville On The Road Saturday

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's basketball teams travel to SIUE on Saturday to square off against the Cougars in an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader.
 
The women tip from the Vadalabene Center at 2:00 p.m. ET, followed by the men at 4:30 p.m. ET.
 
Both games will stream live on ESPN+.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- SIUE leads the all-times series between the two teams, 9-5.
 
- The Colonels won the first meeting, 49-46, in Richmond.  
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern is 8-14 (2-8 OVC) after falling to Eastern Illinois, 85-38, Saturday in Charleston.
 
-  I'Liyah Green led the way for the Colonels posting 11 points, six rebounds, one block and one steal.
 
-  Green ranks fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference in blocks per game.  
 
-  Catie Kaifes ranks seventh in the OVC in three-point field goal percentage.
 
-  The Colonels rank fourth in field goal percentage defense.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  SIU Edwardsville comes into the contest at 3-19 (1-10 OVC), after falling to Morehead State, 63-55, Thursday in overtime.
 
-  Allie Troeckler posted 10 points and nine rebounds for the Cougars.
 
-  Christen King chipped in a team-best 14 points off the bench.
 
-  SIUE ranks fifth in OVC play in rebounding margin.
 
-  Mikia Keith ranks second in conference play in steals per game.

Eastern Kentucky hits the road to take on in-state rival Morehead State next Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
EKU (12-12, 9-2 OVC) won its sixth straight game with a 91-84 victory at Eastern Illinois on Thursday. It is the Colonels' longest regular season OVC win streak since 2007.
 
Sophomore Tre King matched his career high with 22 points in the win at EIU. King currently ranks 14th in the OVC in field goal percentage (50.7%) and seventh in free throw percentage (78.9%).
 
Freshman Michael Moreno poured in a career high 17 points vs. EIU. He was 5-of-5 from the field and 4-of-4 from three-point range.
 
Moreno leads all OVC freshmen in rebounding during league play (6.7 rebounds-per-game).
 
Senior Ty Taylor was voted OVC Co-Newcomer of the Week on Monday. Taylor averaged 20 points, 4 rebounds and 2.5 assists-per-game in the two wins over UT Martin and SEMO last week.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
SIUE (5-19, 2-9 OVC) fell at home to Morehead State, 58-49, on Thursday night.
 
Zeke Moore paces the Cougars at 13.0 points-per-game.
 
This is the 13th all-time meeting between EKU and SIUE. The series is tied, 6-6. The Colonels defeated the Cougars, 78-72, on January 11 in Richmond.
