RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University baseball head coach
Edwin Thompson will be a guest on the MLB Network on Wednesday.
Thompson will be part of a new edition of MLB Tonight: A Conversation which begins at 6 p.m. ET. The 90-minute special will also be simulcast on MLB.com.
The show will cover the issues around racial injustice and inequality in society and baseball. Guests will include current and former MLB players, current and former MLB mangers, and college head coaches. Curtis Granderson, Edwin Jackson, Dee Gordon, Cameron Maybin and Willie Randolph will be among the guests on the show, hosted by MLB Network analyst Harold Reynolds.
Thompson, one of three black head coaches at the NCAA Division I level outside the HBCU conferences, completed his fifth season leading the Colonels this past spring.
In those five seasons, he has coached five MLB draft picks, 12 All-America selections, led the program to five wins over top-30 teams and led Eastern to back-to-back 30-win seasons for the first time since 2000. Each of his five teams have combined for a 3.0 or higher grade-point-average.
The Colonels finished the shortened 2020 season with a 12-2 record, including a Friday night win at No. 11 LSU.
