EKU Volleyball To Play Three ASUN Matches At North Florida This Weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team will play three matches this weekend at the University of North Florida against ASUN Conference East Division teams.
 
The trip begins with a match against Stetson at 11 a.m. on Friday.  Saturday's match against host North Florida at 7 p.m. will air live on ESPN+.  The finale is set for Sunday against Kennesaw State at 3 p.m.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU is 3-0 all-time against Stetson with the first meeting coming during the 1992 season. 
 
-  North Florida has a 1-0 edge over the Colonels with the lone match-up coming during the 2015 season.
 
-  The series with Kennesaw State is knotted at 1-1 with the most recent meeting in 2013. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky (6-16, 3-5 ASUN) fell at Bellarmine, 3-1, last Saturday.
 
Molly Michalak registered 13 kills against the Knights while Sarah Mitchell recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 17 digs.
 
-  Michalak is eighth in the ASUN with 3.10 kills per set.  Mitchell is 11th with 2.89 kills per set.
 
Sydney Schoen ranks fifth in the conference with 3.98 digs per set.  Reilly Lowe is ninth in the ASUN with 1.00 blocks per set.
 
-  As a team, EKU has an ASUN-best 1,031 kills and 1,207 digs this season.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Stetson enters the weekend 9-11 overall and 4-4 in conference play.  The Hatters followed a two-match winning streak over Jacksonville (3-0) and Liberty (3-2) with two straight losses to Kennesaw State (3-2) and Florida Gulf Coast (3-0).  Elena Djokovic leads the team with 3.55 kills per set.  
 
-  North Florida will play Bellarmine on Friday.  The Ospreys are currently 17-3 this season and 6-2 in ASUN matches.  UNF is 2-2 in its last four matches, with wins over Jacksonville (3-0) and Liberty (3-0) and losses to Florida Gulf Coast (3-2) and Kennesaw State (3-1).  Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana leads the team with 3.2 kills per set.  
 
-  Kennesaw State begins the weekend with matches against Lipscomb and Bellarmine.  The Owls are 11-8 so far this season and 5-3 against conference teams.  KSU has won three straight, beating Stetson (3-2), Jacksonville (3-1) and North Florida (3-1).  Emma Schurfranz has a team-best 3.48 kills per set.
