Volleyball Heads To Alabama For Final Road Trip Of The Regular Season

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The Eastern Kentucky volleyball team will conclude its eight-game conference road stretch this weekend.
 
The Colonels will face North Alabama on Friday at 8 p.m., and Jacksonville State on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.  Friday's match will air live on  ESPN+.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU defeated North Alabama, 3-1, in the schools' inaugural meeting on Oct. 2 in Richmond.
 
-  Jacksonville State leads the all-time series 22-16.  The Gamecocks beat the Colonels, 3-0, on Oct. 1 at McBrayer Arena.
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky (6-19, 3-8 ASUN) dropped matches to Stetson (3-0), North Florida (3-1) and Kennesaw State (3-1) last weekend in the ASUN crossover event in Jacksonville, Florida.
 
-  Sarah Mitchell led the team with 27 kills in the ASUN crossover.  She also contributed 24 digs.
 
-  Molly Michalak totaled 26 kills (2.89 kills per set) during EKU's three matches in Jacksonville.
 
-  Reilly Lowe leads the Colonels with 56 blocks on the year.
 
-  Michalak is second in the ASUN with 293 kills this season. Sydney Schoen is second in the ASUN with 385 digs on the year.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  North Alabama is 8-16 overall this season and 2-9 in ASUN play.  The Lions return home after competing in the ASUN crossover last weekend. UNA defeated Jacksonville (3-1) but fell to FGCU (3-0) and Liberty (3-1).
 
-  Katy Floyd leads the Lions with 277 kills.  Floyd also averages 0.41 aces per set, third most in the ASUN. Breylee Linder has a team-best 7.79 assists per set.  Defensively, Anna Katherine Griggs leads UNA with 73 blocks on the season, while Katie Gerig contributes 2.84 digs per set against ASUN competition.
 
-  Jacksonville State will host Bellarmine on Friday afternoon.  The Gamecocks are 19-5 overall and sit atop the ASUN West with a 9-2 conference record.  JSU defeated Jacksonville (3-0) and Liberty (3-0) before losing to Florida Gulf Coast (3-0) last weekend.
 
-  Lena Kindermann enters the weekend with 283 kills on the year, third most in the ASUN.  Zoe Gonzales leads the conference with a .426 hit percentage, while Lexie Libs leads the ASUN with an average of 11.04 assists per set.  Defensively, Gonzales has 64 blocks, while Erin Carmichael averages 3.68 digs per set.
