EKU Volleyball Host Top-25 Ranked Western Kentucky Wednesday

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky will host No. 20 ranked Western Kentucky on Wednesday at McBrayer Arena.
 
The match will start at 6 p.m. and air live on ESPN+.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Eastern Kentucky and Western Kentucky have only met on the volleyball court 17 times.  The Hilltoppers hold a slight 9-8 advantage. 
 
-  The most recent meeting came in 2019 when WKU beat the Colonels 3-0 in Bowling Green. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky (5-13, 2-3 ASUN) is coming off a 3-1 home court victory over North Alabama on Saturday.
 
-  Anna Purichia had a team-high 14 kills while hitting .296 for the match.
 
-  Purichia was chosen as the ASUN Conference Freshman of the Week after averaging 3.14 kills per set and hitting .220 in two matches last week.  She also had five digs and three blocks.
 
-  Molly Michalak is second in the ASUN with 220 kills this season.
 
-  Sydney Schoen is fifth in the ASUN with 4.03 digs per set and second with a total of 282 digs.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Western Kentucky is 15-1 overall, 4-0 in Conference USA matches and ranked 20th in the nation.  The Hilltoppers have won eight straight, without losing a set, since falling to Ole Miss (3-1) on Sept. 10.  
 
-  Lauren Matthews leads the team with an average of 4.14 kills per set.  She also leads the team with 1.25 blocks per set.  Matthews has scored 253.5 points this season.  
 
-  Paige Briggs contributes 3.25 kills and 2.49 digs per set.
 
-  Kelsey Brangers averages a team-best 3.04 digs per set.
