EKU Volleyball Hits The Road For The First Time To Take On Southeast Missouri On Sunday And Monday

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team hits the road for the first time this year for a pair of matches against Southeast Missouri State on Sunday and Monday.
 
First serve against SEMO is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday and 3 p.m. on Monday.
 
Live statistics will be provided for the matches. The matches will be streamed live on ESPN+
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
 
-Eastern comes into the contests at 1-1 (1-1 OVC) after splitting a pair of matches against UT Martin last week.
-Freshman Molly Michalak made a huge statement in her first two matches, posting 34 kills and 37. Michalak earned OVC Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week honors for her performance.
-Junior Lindsey Wilkins in just her first two matches since the 2018 season had 30 kills while hitting .269 in the two contests.
-Freshman setter Audrey Eurton was impressive as well in her first two matches with 15 kills, 109 assists (12.11 APS), and 28 digs over the two matches.
-Eastern ranks second in kills per set, fourth in digs per set and ninth in assists per set.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
 
SEMO
-The Redhawks come into the contests at 0-2 (0-2 OVC) after falling in a pair of matches to last year's regular season champion Jacksonville State.
-Laney Malloy leads the way offensively for SEMO after posting 28 kills with a .234 hitting percentage.
-Colby Green is second on the team with 22 kills while hitting .245 over the two contests.
-Tara Beilsmith leads the back line for the Redhawks with 34 digs on the early season.
-SEMO ranks 69th in the country in hitting percentage.
