Colonels Welcome Austin Peay to McBrayer Arena on Thursday Night

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball team returns home to host Austin Peay on Thursday night at McBrayer Arena. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
EKU (14-2, 8-1 OVC) won its ninth straight game in thrilling fashion on Tuesday night at Jacksonville State, defeating the Gamecocks, 86-82, in overtime.
 
Freshman Wendell Green Jr. buried a game-tying three-pointer at the end of regulation and then scored 10 points in the extra period to lead the Colonels to victory. Green Jr. finished with a game-high 22 points to go along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
 
Green Jr. now ranks fourth in the OVC in scoring (17.0 points-per-game) and leads the league in assists (5.6 assists-per-game) during conference play.
 
Junior Cooper Robb scored a career-high 20 points in the win over Jacksonville State.
 
The 99-96 overtime loss at Xavier on November 30 was EKU's eighth consecutive overtime loss. The Colonels have now won three straight overtime games (all during OVC play).
 
Sophomore Michael Moreno ranks third in the OVC in three-point field goal percentage (50% / 26-of-52) during league play. He leads the OVC in three-point field goals-per-game (2.9) during league play.
 
EKU leads the OVC and ranks seventh in the country in scoring at 84.3 points-per-game.
 
EKU leads the NCAA in steals-per-game (11.9) and ranks second in turnover margin (+7.9) and turnovers forced-per-game (20.8).
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Austin Peay (10-6, 6-4 OVC) beat SIUE, 74-59, on the road on Monday.
 
Reigning OVC Player of the Year Terry Taylor is averaging 20.8 points and 10.7 rebounds-per-game for the Govs.
 
This is the 119th meeting between EKU and Austin Peay. The Govs lead the series, 64-54; however, the Colonels defeated Austin Peay, 80-75, in Clarksville on January 2. Green Jr. scored a career-high 30 points in that win.
