RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky lost 76-64 to Murray State on Saturday at McBrayer Arena.
After a jumper by
Wendell Green Jr. with 15:13 left in the game got the Colonels (14-4, 8-3 OVC) within four, 47-43, the Racers went on a 20-9 run to build a 15-point cushion. Tevin Brown's three-pointer with 7:04 on the clock capped the run and gave the visitors a 67-52 lead.
Green led EKU with 24 points, hitting 10-of-16 from the field. He also had eight assists and four rebounds.
Tre King had 17 points, five rebounds and three blocks.
Chico Carter led Murray State (9-9, 6-7 OVC) with 23 points. KJ Williams finished with 18 points and nine rebounds.
MSU made 53 percent of its shots from the field as a team and out-scored Eastern 20-16 in points off turnovers. The Colonels hit 42 percent from the field.
King's turnaround jumper with 3:26 left in the first half tied the score at 30-30. The Racers however finished off the half with a 9-0 run to take a 39-30 lead into the locker room at the break. Murray State shot 59 percent from the field in the first half, including 5-for-10 from long range. EKU hit on just 37 percent of its shots and was 3-for-12 from deep.
Eastern Kentucky begins a stretch of seven straight road games on Monday at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET.
