LEXINGTON, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky overcame a 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the fifth inning, but Kentucky earned a 6-3 victory on Tuesday at Kentucky Proud Park.

Brent Lovell started the fourth inning with a single to right. He scored on a two-out single to right by
Max Williams to get the Colonels (2-5) on the board.

Logan Thomason led off the top of the fifth with a double to left and
Daniel Harris IV followed with a walk. Both runners moved up on a passed ball. With one out, Thomason scored on a wild pitch. Lovell followed with a sacrifice fly to shallow center field. Harris slid head-first over the plate to tie the game 3-3.

John Rhodes, the second batter in the bottom of the fifth, put Kentucky back on top with a two-run home run over the wall in right field. The Wildcats (5-0) added an insurance run in the sixth.

Thomason finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Lovell went 1-for-2 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Freshman right-hander

Rhodes had a 2-for-3 day with two runs and two RBIs for UK. Cole Daniels (1-0) picked up the win after pitching three scoreless innings in relief and striking out seven.

The Colonels will play at East Tennessee this weekend. The series opens on Friday with a single game at 3 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m.
