RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team fell to in-state rival Morehead State, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at McBrayer Arena.

The Eagles won by scores of 25-22, 20-25, 25-13 and 25-15.

In set one, the Eagles jumped out to an early 9-6 lead after back-to-back kills by Lauren Rokey. The Colonels responded with a 4-0 run after a kill by freshman
Audrey Eurton to take a 10-9 lead over Morehead State. The two teams continued to trade points for the rest of the set and Eastern cut the Eagle lead to one, 22-21, after a
Molly Michalak kill. Morehead State won three of the final four points to take the opening set 25-22.

Eastern (2-11) took control early in set two against the Eagles. After Morehead State tied the set at 5-5, Eastern went on a 5-1 run after a
Jovana Bulatovic kill to take a 10-6 lead over the Eagles. Morehead State cut the lead to, 10-8, before Eastern went on a 7-2 run after an attack error by the Eagles to take a commanding 17-10 lead over Morehead State. After back-to-back kills by Olivia Lohmeier cut the Eastern Kentucky lead to one, 18-17, the Colonels scored seven of the final 10 points to tie the match at 1-1.

Morehead State (13-0) went on a 7-0 run early in the third set to take a 12-5 lead over Eastern and the Colonels could not recover. The Eagles closed the third set on an 8-3 run to take the set 25-13 over the Colonels.

In set four, the Eagles took an early 7-2 after an Eastern Kentucky service error and never looked back. The Colonels tried to chip away against the Eagles but could never get any closer than four points the rest of the set. Morehead State took the set, 25-15.

Michalak posted a team-best 12 kills on the contest. Seniors
Lindsey Wilkins and Bulatovic had 10 kills and nine kills.

Eastern plays its final home game of the 2020-21 spring season tomorrow against in-state rival Morehead State. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
