RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team fell to Tennessee State, 3-1, on Sunday night in Nashville

The Tigers won by scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-15 and 25-10.

The two teams traded points much of the opening set, but Tennessee State took a 19-14 lead after an Aria Holmes kill. The Colonels responded in a big way. Eastern closed the set on an 11-3 run capped off by a
Jovana Bulatovic kill to take the opening set 25-22 and a 1-0 lead.

Eastern Kentucky (2-13) jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in set two after a
Lindsey Wilkins kill. Tennessee State responded with an 8-1 run after a Sofia Garcie-Guerrios kill to take a 10-8 advantage over the Colonels. Eastern answered with a run of its own to take an 18-15 lead after a
Mikayla Logan kill, that forced a TSU timeout. The Tigers again answered with another run scoring 10 of the final 13 points to take the second set, 25-21.

Tennessee State (3-12) jumped out to an early 8-2 lead in set three and never looked back. The Tigers took the set after a Kristian Marshall kill.

With the fourth set tied, 4-4, TSU went on 13-1 run to take a commanding 17-5 advantage over the Colonels that they would never give up.

Molly Michalak led the way offensively for the Colonels with 14 kills and eight digs. Wilkins chipped in nine kills.
Sydney Schoen led the backline with 12 digs.

Eastern wraps up the regular season against Tennessee State tomorrow. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
