JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Eastern Kentucky University's beach volleyball team lost a pair of matches on the opening day of Jacksonville State tournament.

The Colonels (0-2) fell in the opening match 4-1 against Austin Peay, before falling to host Jacksonville State 4-1 in match two.

In match one, the number two pairing of
Sarah Mitchell and
Rachel Woody fell behind early, 1-0, after losing the opening set 21-16. The two bounced back to take the second set, 21-17, and tie the match at 1-1. The duo took the final set, 18-16, to put the Colonels on the board.

In match two, against the host Jacksonville State the number five pairing
Kaylin Johnson and
Alexis Falcone got the Colonels on the board. The duo fell behind early losing the opening set, 21-10. Johnson and Falcone answered back taking the second set, 21-17, to even the match at 1-1. The pairing took the final set, 15-13, to win the point.

The Colonels wrap up the Jacksonville State tournament with a pair of contests tomorrow. First serve on Sunday against UT Martin is scheduled for 9 a.m. with match two tomorrow night against Chattanooga at 5 p.m.
