RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's beach volleyball team fell to in-state rival Morehead State, 5-0, on Tuesday night in Richmond.
 
It was EKU's first-ever home beach volleyball match, and it marked the opening of the new EKU Beach Volleyball Facility.
 
The number three pairing, Raegan Alexander and Molly Michalak, battled back after falling in the opening set, 21-14. The duo answered back, fighting off a couple of match points to take the second set, 24-22, and tie the match at 1-1. The Eagle pairing of Margaret Musselman and Anya Reinhard answered back and took the final set, 15-10, to win the point.
 
The number five paring of Mikayla Logan and Josie Schmitendorf also battled back after falling in the opening set, 21-16. The pairing responded, taking the second set, 21-15, before falling in the final set, 15-7.
 
The Colonels travel to take on in-state rival Morehead State tomorrow afternoon in Morehead. The first match starts at 2:00 p.m. with the second match starting at 4:00 p.m.
