LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kendal Ewell's RBI single to left field in the top of the sixth inning broke a 5-5 tie but Eastern Kentucky couldn't hold off an eighth inning rally and fell to Kentucky, 7-6, on Tuesday at Kentucky Proud Park.

Cam Ridley was hit by a pitch before Ewell sent a 1-2 pitch into left to score Thomason.

Louis Davenport III came on to pitch for the Colonels in the bottom of the sixth and struck out the side in order. He also retired the side in order in the seventh.

Coltyn Kessler hit a two-run home run to cap a four-run fifth for Kentucky that tied the game 5-5.

Ewell finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Ludwick was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Williams had two hits in four at bats, scored a run and drove in two. King also had two hits, scored a run and had a RBI.

Kessler had a 2-for-4 game with a run and three RBIs for Kentucky (25-13).
