RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's athletics department surpassed its giving goals and 100 percent of coaches and staff contributed on Giving Day – a 24-hour fundraising initiative to celebrate and support favorite causes across EKU.
 
 "We are incredibly thankful for the support and generosity shown on Giving Day from so many alums, supporters and fans, coaches and staff," Vice President and Director of Athletics Matt Roan said.  "We appreciate our stakeholders constantly doing what they can in support of our athletics program, as it takes a collective effort to fulfill our great potential.  Together we can accomplish special things."
 
The department surpassed its goal of total contributors and its total contribution goal.  A total of 353 individual donors provided a total of 496 gifts for a total of more than $135,000.  The department saw an increase of 1,444 percent in total dollars raised over 2019. 
 
Every dollar provides critical support to student-athletes, including scholarships, academic support, medical and mental health care, career development opportunities, and more.
