EKU Softball Falls In The Series Finale Against Eastern Illinois

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team fell in the series finale against Eastern Illinois University, 8-0, on Sunday in Richmond.

Eastern Kentucky (32-13, 22-7 OVC) could never get anything going against EIU starter Jade Montgomery.
 
Eastern Illinois (23-18, 14-13 OVC) pushed three across in the top of the first and that was more than enough for Montgomery.
 
The Panthers pushed one across in the third and four more in the top of the sixth to put the eight run-rule into effect.
 
EKU got back-to-back singles by Sammi Miller and Zoe Mihalicz in the bottom of the sixth with two outs but couldn't push a run across.
 
Miller went 2-for-3 on the game.
 
Hannah Cravens went 3-for-4 with four RBIs for EIU.
 
The Colonels travel to take on in-state rival Morehead State in the midweek on Wednesday for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
