CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team fell in a pair of contests against Austin Peay State University on Saturday in Clarksville

The Colonels fell in game one, 9-4, before falling in game two 5-1.
Austin Peay (27-14, 23-11 OVC) used three runs in the first and four runs in the second on four Colonel errors to take a 7-0 lead and not look back in game one.

Eastern Kentucky (32-15, 22-9 OVC) didn't go down without a fight though pushing four across in the top of the fifth. Â Â

Jaelyn Sanders got things started with a lead off bunt single.
Sammi Miller and
Zoe Mihalicz followed with back-to-back walks to load the bases with no one out.
Carly Robinson brought home the first run of the game for the Colonels with a sacrifice fly to right field. With two outs,
Jasmine Miller took a 1-2 pitch over the left field fence to cut into the APSU lead 7-4.

APSU extended the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run home run by Kelsey Gross to take a 9-4 lead.

Jasmine Miller went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBIs.

Lexi Osowski went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

Austin Peay struck first again in game two.

Bailey Shorter singled up the middle to score Brooke Pfefferle to give the Governors an early 1-0 lead.

The Governors took a 2-0 lead over the Colonels in the bottom of the fourth after a Brett Jackson single through the left side.

Eastern answered back in the top of the fifth after an RBI single by Mihalicz brought home
Miranda Lopez to cut the lead 2-1. A double play with the bases loaded ended the Colonel threat in the top half of the inning.

Austin Peay answered back with three in the bottom half of the inning after a three-run home run by Drew Dudley.
Miller, Mihalicz,
Ariyana Miranda and Lopez each recorded a hit.

The Colonels and the Govs wrap up the regular season tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
