RICHMOND, Ky. – Former Eastern Kentucky University basketball star, and all-time leading scorer, Nick Mayo was named to the Golden State Warriors' Summer League team, earning a chance to play his way onto an NBA roster.

The Warriors will begin summer league play by participating in the California Classic hosted by the Sacramento Kings on Aug. 3-4.  Golden State will face the Kings on the first night and the Miami Heat on the second night.

Mayo played seven games for the Miami Heat in the 2019 NBA Summer League before signing his first professional contract with the Chiba Jets Funabashi of the Japanese B League.  He averaged 7.1 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 56 percent from the field for the Heat.  He played one season with the Jets, averaging 14.6 points, 5.63 rebounds and 1.11 steals per game.

In the summer of 2020 he signed with the Levanga Hokkaido of the same league and averaged a league-best 21.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists while knocking down 53 percent of his shots from the field in 55 games.

Mayo ranked second in the conference and 10th in the country in scoring (23.7 points per game) during his senior season at EKU in 2018-19.  He also led the conference in free throw percentage (86.4 percent), tied for second in blocks per game (1.8) and ranked fourth in rebounds per game (8.7).

On Dec. 15, 2018, the 6-foot-9 forward from Oakland, Maine posted 25 points, six rebounds and five steals at Xavier.  In doing so, he moved past Matt Witt to become EKU's all-time leading scorer.  Mayo finished his career fifth on the Ohio Valley Conference all-time scoring list and 145th on the NCAA's all-time scoring list with 2,316 points.  He was only the second player in the 71-year history of the OVC to be named first team all-conference four times.
