EKU Volleyball Returns Home To Host Jacksonville State And North Alabama

RICHMOND, Ky. –
After seven straight matches away from home, the Eastern Kentucky volleyball team returns to McBrayer Arena this weekend for two ASUN Conference matches.
 
The Colonels will face Jacksonville State on Friday at 3 p.m., and North Alabama for a Homecoming match on Saturday at 1 p.m.  Friday's match with the Gamecocks will air live on ESPN+.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Jacksonville State leads the all-time series 21-16.  The Gamecocks won two matches against the Colonels during the spring season. 
 
-  EKU and North Alabama will be meeting for the first time. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky (4-12, 1-2 ASUN) won its first-ever ASUN match, beating Jacksonville 3-0.  The Colonels fell to Liberty, 3-1, and Florida Gulf Coast, 3-0.
 
-  Sarah Mitchell led the team with 29 kills in the first three conference matches (2.90 kills per set).  She also contributed 3.3 digs per set.
 
-  Reilly Lowe had a team-best 13 blocks in the first three ASUN matches of the season.
 
-  Molly Michalak is tied for the ASUN lead with 200 kills this season.
 
-  Lowe is fifth in the conference with an average of 1.04 blocks per set.  Sydney Schoen is also fifth in the ASUN with 4.11 digs per set.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Jacksonville State is 12-4 overall this season and 2-1 against ASUN teams.  The Gamecocks hosted three conference games over the weekend, beating Stetson (3-0) and Kennesaw State (3-2), and losing to North Florida (3-2).  
 
-  Lena Kindermann leads JSU with 3.46 kills per set.  Lexie Libs has a team-high 10.23 assists per set.  Defensively, Erin Carmichael leads the team with 3.39 digs per set and Zoe Gonzales averages 1.14 blocks per set.  
 
-  North Alabama will play at Bellarmine on Friday.  The Lions are 6-10 overall and 0-3 in the ASUN.  UNA lost to Kennesaw State (3-0), Stetson (3-2) and North Florida (3-0) on the first weekend of conference action.
 
-  Katy Floyd leads the team with 2.65 kills per set.  Breylee Linder has a team-best 6.93 assists per set.  Katie Gerig contributes 2.45 digs per set and Anna Katherine Griggs averages 0.78 blocks per set.
