RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky softball is excited to announce the first-ever "Hit-a-Thon" fundraising event at the Gertrude Hood Field on Monday, November 7.
An event that serves as an important means of fundraising for the EKU softball program, our vision is to raise enough money to provide an excellent student-athlete experience for our current/future student-athletes that choose EKU as their home.
Please visit EKU's official alumni association website for more information and to register for the event
here.
"The Hit-a-Thon not only allows us to raise money to enhance the program, it also is fun for the players to compete with one another. We are grateful to all that supports us." said head coach
Jane Worthington.
How it works
Each player receives ten BP pitches; the farthest hit ball will count. Leading up to the event, players will seek out pledges from friends, family, and supporters like you per foot for the farthest ball they hit. The ball will be measured at its stopping point – on the field or over the fence.
Pledges
The minimum pledge amount is 25¢ per foot. After the Hit-a-Thon, our staff will reach out to the pledges letting you know how far your player hit her ball and what the full pledge amount comes to.
Distances & Pledges
We expect our players can hit it to the outfield wall, which is 190 feet down the foul lines and 220 feet to centerfield. A quick breakdown of pledge amounts if the player were to hit their farthest ball 220 feet is below to help guide you in your decision. These are just benchmark dollar amounts to reference; please feel free to give any amount at or over 25¢.
.25¢/per foot = $55.00
.45¢/per foot = $99.00
.65¢/per foot = $143.00
