Colonels Take Two-Match Winning Streak On The Road

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. –
After winning a pair of matches at home, Eastern Kentucky will take to the road this weekend for matches at Jacksonville State and ASUN Conference leader Kennesaw State.
 
EKU and JSU will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Friday.  The match will air live on ESPN+.  Saturday's match against Kennesaw State is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. ET and will be shown on YouTube.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Jacksonville State has a 23-16 advantage in the all-time series.  The two teams played twice last season with the Gamecocks winning in Richmond and in Jacksonville. 
 
-  Eastern Kentucky is 1-3 all-time against Kennesaw State.  The Owls picked up a win in the lone regular season meeting last season and knocked off the Colonels in the ASUN Tournament. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU moved to 12-8 this season and evened its conference record at 3-3 by beating Queens, 3-0, and Liberty, 3-2, at home this past weekend.  The Colonels are 4-2 in their last six matches.
 
-  Junior Sarah Mitchell averaged 2.88 kills and 3.63 digs in the two matches last week, leading the team in both categories.  She led the team in kills (14) and digs (15) in the win over Liberty.
 
-  Freshman Carson Ledford made just one error in 26 attacks and had 17 kills for a .615 attack percentage in Eastern Kentucky's two wins last week.  She tied her career-high with 11 kills against Liberty.
 
-  Chloe Mason ranks second in the league with 30 aces.
 
-  The Colonels lead the ASUN in digs and are third in kills.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Jacksonville State is 16-3 overall and tied for third in the ASUN with a 4-2 mark.  The Gamecocks suffered their first conference losses over the weekend in two matches against Kennesaw State.  
 
-  Lena Kindermann, a fifth-year outside hitter, leads the team and is fourth in the ASUN with 3.44 kills per set.  She is hitting .319 for the season.  Katie Montgomery, a fifth-year middle blocker, has a team-best 54 blocks and is third on the team with 21 aces.  She averages 2.30 kills per set and leads the conference with a .407 attack percentage.  
 
-  Kennesaw State sits at 12-4 this season and 5-1 in ASUN matches.  The Owls are coming off two 3-0 victories over Jacksonville State this past weekend.  KSU's only league loss was a 3-0 set-back at Liberty.
 
-  Senior outside hitter Dani Ballou is averaging a team-high 3.16 kills per set.  She is also second on the team with 18 aces.  Shelby Dennis, a senior defensive specialist, is contributing 4.23 digs per set.  Junior middle blocker Claire Parsons averages 1.20 blocks per set, second-best in the ASUN.
