Colonel Volleyball Hosts Bellarmine On Friday

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky will host Bellarmine on Friday at McBrayer Arena.  As part of the home-and-home weekend series between the conference rivals, EKU will play at Bellarmine on Sunday.
 
Friday's match in Richmond will begin at 6 p.m. and will be EKU's Dig Pink Game to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer.  A breast cancer survivor will be honored and presented a pink volleyball before the match.  Baptist Health will be in attendance with an information booth for breast cancer awareness.  FREE pink giveaways will be available at the marketing table. 
 
Sunday's tilt in Louisville is set for a 1 p.m. start.  Both matches will air live on ESPN+.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Colonels hold a 7-1 lead in the all-time series between the two programs. 
 
-  Eastern Kentucky and Bellarmine split two meetings last season with each time posting a 3-1 win on its home court. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU dropped to 12-10 on the season and 3-5 against ASUN teams after falling at second place Jacksonville State, 3-2, and first place Kennesaw State, 3-0.
 
-  Eastern Kentucky leads the conference in digs (1,317) and is third in kills (1,015).
 
-  Molly Michalak leads the Colonels with 2.93 kills per set.
 
-  In two matches last week against JSU and KSU, Sarah Mitchell averaged 3.50 kills per set and had a .354 attack percentage.  The junior posted 19 kills with only two errors, a .500 attack percentage, 12 digs, four blocks and two aces in the near upset of second place Jacksonville State.
 
-  Freshman Carson Ledford leads EKU with 68 blocks, an average of 0.83 per set.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Bellarmine is 8-12 this season and 2-6 in league matches.  Since shutting out Queens, 3-0, on Oct. 8, the Knights have lost 3-1 at Kennesaw State and 3-0 at Jacksonville State.  
 
-  Senior outside hitter Jayme Scott leads Bellarmine, and the ASUN, with 4.20 kills per set.  She also averages 4.54 points per set.  
 
-  Sophomore middle blocker Jayda Harris has a team-best 47 blocks for 0.64 per set.
 
-  Anna Lococo, a junior defensive specialist, contributes 4.14 digs per set.
