Women's and Men's Basketball Season Tickets
RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Alumni Coliseum throughout the 2022-23 basketball season.
A special set of logos were created to mark the celebration. In addition, key moments from the first 60 years of Alumni Coliseum will be highlighted throughout the season.
Alumni Coliseum is set to undergo a complete renovation following the 2022-23 season.

In June of 1961, Governor Bert Combs and Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson joined EKU President Dr. Robert Martin in a ground-breaking ceremony for Alumni Coliseum.
The first basketball game was played in AC on Dec. 4, 1963 with the men's basketball team handing the University of Louisville a 78-65 defeat. The women's basketball team began playing in Alumni Coliseum in 1976. The volleyball program began playing its home games in AC in 1991.
The men's basketball team has won 68 percent of its games in the facility, compiling a record of 519-250. The women's basketball team has posted a record of 322-207 for a 61 percent winning percentage. The women's team went 13-0 during its championship season in 2004-05. The volleyball team's next home court victory will be its 200th in Alumni Coliseum. The squad has won nearly 60 percent of its matches in AC, including going 24-0 at home during the championship seasons of 2004 and 2005.
Crowds of 5,500-plus have enjoyed watching the Colonels play at home regularly over the last 20 years, including 6,250 for the Battle of the Bluegrass with Western Kentucky on Dec. 3, 2005 and 5,826 when the Hilltoppers came to Richmond on Nov. 15, 2019.
One of the most exciting games at AC came on March 3, 1979 when EKU's Dave Tierney converted two free throws with no time left on the clock to beat Western Kentucky, 78-77, in the conference tournament championship game. A number of national postseason tournament games have been played at Alumni Coliseum, including games in the 2010 College Basketball Invitational, the 2015 CollegeInsider.com Tournament and in 2002 when Alabama came to Richmond for a WNIT game.
Alumni Coliseum has also served as the home to many EKU commencement exercises, concerts and student events, in addition to community events such as the Kentucky High School Girls Basketball Sweet 16, the Boys and Girls All-A Classics, district and region basketball tournaments, middle school and high school swim meets, cheer and dance competitions, and local high school graduation ceremonies.
Located on a southern slope of the Eastern Kentucky University campus, Alumni Coliseum forms the nucleus of a thoughtfully-planned sports complex. The coliseum is a massive physical plant and features a great triumph in architectural design with its wooden laminated cross-arched roof — the world's largest of its kind — spanning 309 feet and providing an unobstructed view of events held in the main auditorium. A total of 616,276 board feet of lumber form the 170 beams and roof, which arches gracefully 81 feet above the floor level. The wood is southern pine finished in its natural beauty.
In addition to the main auditorium, which seats 6,500 for basketball games and 8,000 for other programs, the building contains a practice gymnasium on the east end and an indoor competition swimming pool.
Alumni Coliseum has seen a number of modifications and renovations recently. In the summer of 2014 a new playing surface was installed. It was the first time the court had been replaced since Alumni Coliseum was completed in 1963. Other recent improvements include new lighting and new basketball goals. During the summer of 2013, a new video board was installed in McBrayer Arena. The display, manufactured by Daktronics, measures approximately 15 feet high by 26 feet wide.
