TUSCULUM, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University's beach volleyball team lost a pair of matches on the opening day at Tusculum.
 
The Colonels (0-2) fell in the opening match to Carson-Newman, 4-1, before falling to Chattanooga, 4-1, in the second match of the day.
 
In match one, the number four pairing Sydney Schoen and Maddy Campbell won the point for the Colonels. After falling in the first set, 21-19, the pairing stormed back to take the last two games, 21-12 and 15-9, to win the point for the Colonels.
 
The number one and two pairings each lost in the third set.
 
In match two, the number five pairing of Bailey Rima and Kali Walker fell behind early, losing the opening set. The freshmen duo stormed back to take the second set, 21-14, and the third set, 17-15, winning the point for the Colonels.
 
The number one and two pairings each lost in the third set of the contest.  
 
The Colonels wrap up the event tomorrow morning against the host Tusculum. First-serve is scheduled for noon.
