WILMINGTON, N.C.– Eastern Kentucky University's beach volleyball team fell in a pair of matches to UNC Wilmington on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Colonels fell in the opening match, 3-2, to the Seahawks before falling in match two, 3-2.
 
In match one, the number one pairing of Shannon Stone and Hannah Keating made quick work of their match sweeping the UNC Wilmington pairing in straight sets. Stone and Keating won the first set, 21-19, before taking the second set, 21-14.  
 
The number two pairing of Paityn Walker and Sarah Mitchell fell behind early losing the first set to UNC Wilmington, 21-15. The duo answered back in the second set taking the set, 21-13, to force a third and decisive set. Walker and Mitchell held on in the third set to win the point for the Colonels, 16-14.
 
In match two, the number two pairing of Walker and Mitchell won in straight sets over UNC Wilmington, 21-18 and 21-17.
 
Stone and Keating in the number one spot won the first set, 21-19, over UNCW. The duo fell in a close set, 26-24, before answering back and winning the final set, 15-10.
 
The Colonels travel to South Carolina to take on Erskine College and Spartanburg Methodist in a pair of matches on Thursday.
