DUE WEST, S.C.– Eastern Kentucky University's beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on Thursday in South Carolina.

The Colonels fell in the first match of the day, 3-2, to Erskine before sweeping Spartanburg College, 5-0, in the last match of the day.

In match two, the Colonels cruised past Spartanburg only losing one set the entire match.

Elizabeth Fonvielle and
Maddy Campbell won quickly in the first set, 21-4, over the Spartanburg pairing before taking the second set over the duo, 21-13.

The number three pairing,
Kaylin Johnson and
Sydney Schoen rolled in the first set over Spartanburg, 21-10. The duo cruised in the final set 21-8. All five pairings won in straight sets over Spartanburg.

In match one, the number two duo pairing of
Sarah Mitchell and
Paityn Walker won in straight sets winning the first set, 21-17, before winning the second set, 21-18, to win the point for the Colonels.

Fonvielle and Campbell won in straight sets in the opening match against Erskine winning the first set, 21-16. The duo answered back winning the second set over the pairing 21-11 to win the point for Eastern Kentucky.

It was head coach
Jeff Patton's first career win as the head coach of the beach program.
