RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University beach volleyball team is set to host the EKU Beach Tournament this weekend starting on Friday.
 
The Colonels open the home event on Friday afternoon against Austin Peay. First serve against the Govs is scheduled for 1 p.m. EKU then takes on Eastern Illinois on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Colonels will host a Senior Day ceremony for the seniors before that match.
 
Eastern Kentucky takes on ASUN foe Jacksonville State at 1 p.m. on Saturday before wrapping up the event against North Alabama at 5 p.m. Saturday night.
 
Austin Peay comes into the weekend at 6-5 on the season after winning three of four last weekend at the OVC Weekend, hosted by Chattanooga. Eastern Illinois enters the weekend at 0-5. North Alabama is 6-8 on the season and Jacksonville State comes into the weekend at 0-12.
 
Paityn Walker and Sarah Mitchell have been on a tear lately winning six straight matches to give them a team-best 7-5 record on the season.
 
The Colonels have won three straight matches all by the score of 5-0.
