RICHMOND, Ky.– Eastern Kentucky University's beach volleyball team fell in a pair of matches on the first day of the Austin Peay Beach Bash.  
 
The Colonels lost the first match to UT Martin, 4-1, before falling in the second match against Austin Peay, 5-0.
 
In match one, the number two pairing of Paityn Walker and Sarah Mitchell picked up their team-best 11th win for the Colonels.
 
The duo swept the number two pairing of UT Martin in straight sets, 21-19 and 21-18.
 
The number one pairing of Shannon Stone and Hannah Keating took the first set over the UTM duo, 21-18. The Skyhawks pairing answered back taking the next two sets to win the point for UT Martin.  
 
In match two, the number three pairing of Sydney Schoen and Maddy Campbell went toe-to-toe in the first set falling, 25-23. The duo lost the second set, 21-15.
 
The Colonels wrap up the Austin Peay Beach Bash on Saturday. EKU takes on Jacksonville State at 10 a.m. and will have one more match with the opponent to be determined.
