HUNTSVILLE, Ala.– Eastern Kentucky University's beach volleyball team came up short in a pair of matches on day two of the ASUN Beach Championship.

The Colonels lost to Mercer in the opening match, 3-2, before falling to UNC Wilmington in match two, 5-0.

In match one, the number one pairing of
Paityn Walker and
Sarah Mitchell got the Colonels on the board winning in straight sets over the Mercer duo, 21-13, and 21-17.

Shannon Stone and
Maddy Campbell took the opening set for the Colonels out of the number two pairing, 21-15. The duo for Mercer stormed back to take the second set over the Colonels, 21-13, to even the match. EKU held on to win the final set, 17-15, to win the point for the Colonels.

In match two, the duo of Walker and Mitchell fell in the opening set to UNCW, 21-14. Walker and Mitchell went toe-to-toe with the Wilmington pairing in the second set before falling, 26-24.

The Colonels wrap up the pool play portion of the ASUN Tournament tomorrow morning against Stephen F Austin at 9:30 a.m.
