EKU Softball Picks Up Sixth Straight ASUN Win And Completes Sweep Of Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –
 The Eastern Kentucky University softball team completed the sweep of Lipscomb University knocking off the Bisons, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon in Nashville.
 
It is the sixth straight ASUN win for the Colonels.
 
The two teams were in a pitcher's duel until the top of the fifth inning.
 
Ariyana Miranda got things started with a pinch hit double into the left center gap with one out. After a strikeout, the Colonels did all their damage with two outs. Sammi Miller singled down the left field line to score Miranda and give the Colonels a 1-0 lead. Jeanay Riley followed with a single to left center to score Miller to give Eastern Kentucky the 2-0 advantage. Maggie Pertee joined the fun with a triple to left center field, scoring Riley from first base giving EKU the 3-0 lead. After Jasmine Miller worked a walk, Lou Bowers doubled to center field to score two more and give EKU the 5-0 lead over Lipscomb.
 
Vianna Barron brought home one more in the top of the seventh on an RBI groundout.
 
Lauren Narvaez started in the circle tossing four innings, allowing one run, and scattering six hits. Narvaez picked up all three wins in the circle this weekend for the Colonels. Kaitlyn Young picked up her second save of the season tossing the final three innings allowing one hit.
 
Jasmine Miller went 3-for-3 with one double. Sammi Miller went 2-for-4 with one RBI. The Colonels had nine hits on the contest.
 
EKU hits the road on Tuesday for an in-state showdown with Northern Kentucky before wrapping up the regular season with a three-game series against North Alabama. First-pitch against the Norse on Tuesday is scheduled for 4 p.m.
