RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University student-athletes recorded a departmental grade point average above 3.0 for the 21st consecutive semester, the athletic department announced on Wednesday.
EKU student-athletes posted a cumulative GPA of 3.239 in the spring of 2022, the second-highest student-athlete GPA in department history. 12 different programs finished the semester with a team GPA above 3.0.
"We are incredibly proud of the effort and success our student-athletes displayed in the classroom this spring," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Matt Roan. "We have seen throughout the year how determined these young men and women are to succeed in competition, but the perseverance they've shown in setting records in the classroom has been equally inspiring to watch. We are particularly grateful for our Bratzke professionals and outstanding faculty for their support of our student-athletes' academic excellence."
Volleyball (3.73) earned the highest team GPA in the spring semester and their highest ever as a program, while beach volleyball (3.685) set a program record for spring GPA. Baseball posted its second-highest spring GPA ever and football ended the spring with the third-highest team GPA in program history.
66 student-athletes finished the semester with a 4.0 GPA. 111 student-athletes were named to the Dean's List, and 231 notched a 3.0 to earn the distinction of Colonel Scholars.
