LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a rally that saw the Wildcats score four first half goals, Eastern Kentucky soccer (1-2) falls to Kentucky (4-0) by a score of 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.
EKU and Kentucky were in stride the first 15 minutes of the contest, Senior
Audrey Anderson attempted the first and only shot of the match for EKU, finding the gloves of UK keeper Tallulah Miller (5').
In the 10th minute, EKU's
Lauren Seedlock used her right foot to stop Hannah Richardson's 1-on-1 advance, keeping the match equalized at nil.
Kentucky broke the standoff in the 15th minute, as Richardson sent a ball across the box that found the right foot of Jordyn Rhodes for her third goal of the season.
Six minutes later, the Wildcats successfully completed a corner on their second-straight attempt. Ulfa Ulfarsdottir placed the ball in the box that found the head of Maggy Henschler (21') to make the score 2-0.
UK scored its third goal of the contest in the 39th minute, Taylor Hattori struck a ball with her left foot to find the back of the net, pushing the Kentucky lead to three.
Less than a minute before the halftime whistle, Lesley Kiesling used her right foot to score from 15 yards out, sending the home team to the locker room with their fourth and final goal of the contest.
The Colonels used 27 student-athletes in today's contest, 16 of those came off the bench keeping EKU fresh on its half of the field. The tactic proved fruitful as EKU prevented UK from scoring in the second half, limiting their shot attempts by 40 percent from the previous period.

Allison Vaughn all made their first appearance on the season against Kentucky. Freshman
Payton Payne made her collegiate debut in the loss, logging 18 total minutes.
UK ended the match with the advantage in shots (17-1), shots on goal (8-1), corner kicks (10-1), and possession (61 percent).
Eastern Kentucky will return to Richmond to begin a six-match home stand starting with Akron on Sept. 2, 4:00 p.m. ET, at the EKU Soccer Field. The Colonels will also welcome to town Wright State, Detroit Mercy, UIC, North Alabama, and Central Arkansas the following matches from Sept. 4-Sept. 18.
