SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After opening the 2022 season 2-1 at home, Eastern Kentucky will take its first road trip of the season for the three-match Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
 
EKU opens against host Wofford at 1 p.m. ET on Friday.  The Colonels will take on the University of South Carolina Upstate at 4 p.m. ET on Friday.  Eastern Kentucky closes out the Wofford Invitational against Appalachian State on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.
 
All three EKU matches will air live on ESPN+.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU and Wofford will be meeting for the first time on the volleyball court. 
 
-  USC Upstate won the only meeting between the two teams, 3-1, in 2010 in Boone, North Carolina. 
 
-  The Colonels and Appalachian State will be meeting for the second straight season.  The all-time series is tied 2-2.  The Mountaineers won last season's match 3-2. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky beat IUPUI and Radford by 3-0 scores to open the 2022 season last Friday.  The Colonels fell 3-1 to Tennessee-Martin in the finale of the Colonel Classic.
 
-  Through three matches, Sarah Mitchell leads the team with 2.20 kills per set.  She is second on the team with 3.30 digs per set.
 
-  Newcomer Chloe Mason opened the season with eight aces in three matches and a team-best 56 assists.
 
-  Senior middle blocker Maddy Campbell had nine blocks in the Colonel Classic and is averaging 0.90 per set.  She also contributed 20 kills (2.00/set) and three aces.
 
-  The Colonels have held their opponents to a .140 attack percentage.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Wofford started the season by going 1-2 at the Charlotte Invitational.  The Terriers lost to Charlotte (3-1) and Syracuse (3-2) before beating Morgan State (3-0).  Sarah Barham leads the attack with 3.25 kills per set.  
 
-  USC Upstate sits at 1-2 after opening the season with a win over Alcorn (3-0) and then falling to Stetson and Georgia Southern by 3-0 scores.  Briana Strobert has a team-best 2.25 kills per set this year.  
 
-  Appalachian State 1-2 as well.  The Mountaineers beat California Baptist (3-0) and then lost to Charleston Southern (3-2) and St. John's (3-2) at the Charleston Southern Tournament.  McCall Denny is averaging a team-best 2.62 kills per set.
